CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

The People & Culture group is responsible for developing and implementing the People Strategy, which sets the foundational building blocks for modernizing the employee experience, cultivating the CMPA's organizational culture, and transforming our approach to talent management. The group has accountability for creating an employee experience in which the CMPA's people are inspired, connected and empowered to bring the Association's vision, mission and strategic plan to life in service of our members and the Canadian healthcare system.

The People & Culture group partners with the business to deliver plans, services and programs to attract, recruit, develop and retain an engaged workforce that is fully capable of responding to evolving organizational needs. The group's core activities include people strategy and planning, organizational culture, equity, diversity and inclusion, talent management and acquisition, employee relations, disability and leave management, employee well-being, total rewards management, and HR data and analytics. The group also collaborates with other business areas on HR systems, organizational change enablement and organizational learning programs and initiatives.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Talent Specialist, Projects and Analytics plays a key role in researching, designing and deploying talent programs and practices to attract, develop, engage and retain talent in the context of CMPA's broader operating environment. Reporting to the Manager, Talent Management, the role focuses on enhancing and measuring core talent programs to drive business outcomes and a compelling employee experience. The Talent Specialist leads projects and initiatives in support of the People Strategy and delivers high-impact talent programs in partnership with colleagues across the People and Culture team and other internal collaborators such as Organizational Learning & Collaboration and Change Enablement, and Communications.

Working in close partnership with the Business Capability Enablement team, the Talent Specialist identifies opportunities to leverage Workday to facilitate the talent management process and enhance CMPA's people analytics capability.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

  • Research, develop and support the implementation of talent programs, such as talent and succession planning, performance management, and strategic workforce planning in order to build and continue to have the right talent pipelines needed to achieve business goals, strengthen CMPA culture and be able to thrive and adapt to a dynamic operating environment.
  • Develop and maintain talent and succession planning, performance management and strategic workforce planning policies, procedures and processes.
  • Develop metrics to measure the success of talent programs. Monitor and track talent programs and processes for quality and effectiveness and in consultation with the Manager, Talent Management, make improvements based on research, data, and internal stakeholder feedback.
  • Provide analysis and formulate observations and insights about internal and external talent trends to inform People Strategy and talent-based programs and decisions. Support the reporting of People Strategy and talent program outcomes for executive and senior leadership and enable storytelling of program results.
  • Partner with the Organizational Learning and Collaboration team to translate the results of talent management processes into organizational learning priorities and requirements to ensure organizational goals are met.
  • Provide leadership and coordination in the planning, and implementation of projects supporting People Strategy initiatives, including defining project plans, creating a change strategy, managing implementation deliverables, reporting on progress, and developing documentation and communications for project rollout.
  • Work closely with the People and Culture team and across functional teams, including Change Enablement and Communications to implement talent programs and assigned projects.
  • Work closely with the Business Capability Enablement team to leverage Workday to facilitate the talent management process and to enhance people analytics functionality and reporting.
  • Contribute to the identification of system priorities and enhancements for the Association's workforce analytics and HR system roadmap.
  • Integrate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion into talent programs and processes. Work with key stakeholders to embed diversity data in the talent management process, and review and report on talent data with a diversity lens.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the People Services and Total Rewards teams to understand how the talent programs and processes are working, and identify and introduce improvements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • University Degree in Commerce, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field
  • Minimum of seven years of broad and progressive experience in human resources with demonstrated experience managing corporate-wide projects with practical experience in designing, implementing and evaluating talent management programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing HR projects and programs, including the ability to mentor and coach others
  • Knowledge of principles of change management, organizational development, learning and development, leadership development
  • Knowledge of current provincial employment legislation (Ontario and Quebec)
  • Experience with Workday, or HRIS and other relevant HR platforms
  • Experience analysing people data to be able to tell a story and make relevant recommendations
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation or related designation is a strong asset

Demonstrates ability to be consistently open, honest and candid when communicating with others. Ability to influence decision-makers and stakeholders to support successful talent management program development and project implementation
  • Able to compile and synthesize data and identify trends and insights
  • Strong facilitation skills and presentation skills with the ability to engage partners in People and Culture and across the organization in brainstorming, problem solving, and decision making
  • Able to build effective relationships and gain alignment with peers, functional partners and/or external partners to accomplish business objectives
  • Open to listen and share different perspectives
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is highly desirable
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and collaborative tools such as Miro, etc.

  • Salary range: $81,952 to $114,733 - this role is classified as level 9
  • Skill assessment: selected candidates may be required to complete a skill assessment.
  • Location: Hybrid - Primary Remote Job. You can work from a home-based office the majority of time, with regular on-site presence at the CMPA office (up to 1-2 days per week). If you prefer to work in an office setting as your primary workspace, you can choose to work out of the CMPA's office located in Ottawa, Ontario near the beautiful Dow's Lake.
