Located at 3099 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3K 5M7, and 35 Micmac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3A 4Y8, Irving Shipbuilding has a proud history as Canada's shipbuilder. Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we're just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.

Our workforce of over 2,000 will grow to more than 2,800 at peak construction of the Canadian Surface Combatants. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a temporary Talent Management Specialist.

This is a temporary full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. This role directly supports the objectives of the Talent Management team, with a focus on emerging talent development and implementation of Irving ShipbuildingaEUR(TM)s Graduate Development Program and Co-op Student Program. This role will work closely with key stakeholders to create strategic and innovative solutions for growing and developing Irving ShipbuildingaEUR(TM)s Student and Graduate talent pools and to ensure effective optimization of these programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education required:
  • BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Adult Education, or related field.
  • A professional Human Resources designation would be considered an asset
  • Experience required:
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with dedicated experience supporting talent management strategies would be preferred.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with key business stakeholders, the Talent Center of Excellence and HR Business Partners to ensure the successful development and delivery of Talent Management Programs for emerging talent.
  • Act as the Program Lead for the Graduate Development Program including program recruitment strategies, improvement, and execution.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the Graduate Development Program participants throughout the duration of the Program to support their growth and development.
  • Support the growth and execution of the co-op student program by working closely with the business to understand the student workforce plan and create a centralized student talent pool.
  • Create a Calendar of Events for co-op students to ensure they are achieving co-op requirements while supporting their growth and development.
  • Plan and execute the Student and Graduate Talent Review cycle to ensure the business is aware of high potential talent for future opportunities.
