PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Working within the Talent Acquisition Team, as the Talent Acquisition Advisor will provide strategic, proactive sourcing, selection and recruitment services to business units in Canada and United States. You will assist in designing and implementing recruitment and selection processes in order to attract and source a diverse and high performing workforce and are a key enabler to CP\'s growth ambitions across our network. The Talent Acquisition Advisor\'s ability to proactively source, engage and build relationships with talent in highly competitive markets will set the successful candidate apart from their industry peers. We recruit experienced hires, union and non-union roles, as well on-campus recruitment programs.
You will work collaboratively with hiring managers to identify the specific requirements, providing expert and best in class services to hire the most qualified candidates in a timely manner.
Travel requirements for this role can be up to 20-30% depending upon the season and volume of recruiting.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide leading recruitment and selection expertise aligned to deliver business requirements
Provide full cycle recruiting services including development of competitive job advertisements, sourcing strategies, listing of positions both internally and externally, screening leading qualified candidates bringing the most qualified to the business for consideration
Develop strong relationships with Hiring Managers, Senior Management, Directors, HR Business Partners and Supervisors at all levels
Support the development of competitive employment offer contracts and support leaders of people through to the offer phase
Facilitate pre-employment background, criminal and other pre-employment screening and testing
Coordinate with Health Services to schedule and monitor medical checks for potential candidates;
Facilitate high volume recruitment sessions;
Develop candidate pools for reoccurring and high volume hiring needs, implementing strategies to maintain interested candidates in the talent pipeline
Identify and communicate hiring trends and issues for their specific client group and develop strategies to maintain a solid pipeline of candidates
Development and leverage of social media to leverage CP\'s brand, furthering reach beyond the traditional hire methods to new generational demographic segments;
Coordinate with Health Services to schedule and monitor medical checks for potential candidates;
Assist with or coordinate ongoing and new HR projects such as Metrics and Reporting, On-boarding, Behavioural Interview guidance and streamlining the recruitment processes;
Produce ad hoc reports, graphs, training materials, presentation materials, and charts in support of ongoing recruiting activity;
Attend team meetings to share learnings and identify process improvement opportunities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Post-secondary education in a field related field (Human Resource Management);
Must possess a minimum of 3 years\' experience in recruiting
Experience working in a high volume union and non-union environment;
Experience in a large corporate environment;
The Talent Acquisition Advisor has a strong read on people and is passionate about identifying the best candidate for a role keeping both technical qualifications and organizational fit in mind;
Strong sense of urgency and understanding of excellent customer service for hiring department/manager and candidates maintaining communication on status of hiring process
Social media savvy, with a strong command of job search sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, and other job banks;
Computer skills required: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint);
Bilingual (French and English) is considered a strong asset;
Valid Driver\'s License is required;
Energetic self-starter;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical skills;
A sincere commitment to providing excellent service to clients and candidates, and an ability to establish and develop long term relationships;
A high level of self-motivation, initiative and organization;
