Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
fluency in both written and oral French and English
demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applying effective strategies to support a balanced development of literacy skills
demonstrated knowledge of and experience with applying effective strategies to support a balanced development of numeracy skills
demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively use classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to differentiate instruction and learning (formative and summative)
demonstrated ability to select, modify or adapt instructional materials to meet the individual academic, social/emotional, and behavioural needs of students
demonstrated ability to utilize proactive classroom management strategies in order to promote a positive and effective classroom learning environment
proven ability to work as an effective team member in developing CBIEP's and to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in the implementation of these plans (School Based Team Model)
proven ability to involve parents as partners to enhance student learning
proven commitment to working with colleagues to develop a strong and caring professional learning community in support of the School Strategic Plan
willingness to work in a school where collaboration, shared decision-making and shared leadership are part of the culture
working knowledge of and willingness to support Positive Behavior Support initiatives both in the classroom and in the larger school community
proven ability in integrating technology into instructional practice to enhance student engagement for a wide range of learning abilities
willingness to participate in training and in-service related to the implementation of an Early French Immersion Program
