How You Will Contribute:

We are looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to join our Systems Integration practice. Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s Global Services, Innovation & Technology Solutions (ITS) team is expanding and focused on Residential Broadband (XGS-PON), virtualized edge, and SD-WAN solutions.

Reporting to the Director, of Systems Integration Product Services, you will implement, deploy, integrate, and support customer solutions for Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s service provider and enterprise customers. The focus will be integrating and validating Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s various product solutions and third-party components. You will bring technical depth and breadth along with strong customer-facing skills. Our Systems Integration team will benefit from your innovation, customer focus, collaboration, value creation, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Ciena colleagues and industry partners to convert top-level architectures and designs into deployment deliverables.
• Support presales activities. Perform project delivery, both remotely and on customer\xe2\x80\x99s sites.
• Validate solution configurations and functionality. Achieve acceptance testing success.
• Residential Broadband (XGS-PON) solution Integration, Validation, and Deployments
• Integrate multi-vendor network equipment, orchestrators, OSSs, BSSs, EMSs, and NMSs.
• Perform solution life cycle management activities: evaluation and impact assessment of revisions to solution components.
• Perform onboarding and validation of enterprise Virtual Network Functions.
• Perform testing of solutions (XGS-PON, NFV,SD-WAN) along with troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
• Create documentation and knowledge-sharing content/competency development for colleagues, partners, and clients.
• Support customer engagements including technical sessions, questions, planning, progress updates, and issue resolution.
• Implement proof of concepts (PoC) and demonstrate those for customers and customer clients.
• Identify and create processes and automation tools to optimize the capabilities of the practice.

Experience and Personal Skills

• The successful applicant for this role will have 6+ years of experience working in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field preferably with systems integration delivery roles in PON and/or Network solution products. Two or more years of SD-WAN or Residential Broadband/(PON)networking experience desired.
• Implementation and Integration experience in one or more of the following solutions: broadband access (GPON/XGS-PON), SD-WAN, SASE or virtualized edge.
• Technical knowledge and experience in cloud computing, network function virtualization, PON technologies.
• Experience with multiples of the following applications: PON, BNG, firewall, router, load-balancer, SD-WAN, Radius/AAA, CGNAT, or MEC.
• Certification or familiarization with hypervisor technologies and software for building and managing virtualized services: OpenStack, VMWare, KVM, Linux, RedHat, and public clouds.
• Network testing methodologies including test set usage and automation: Ixia or Spirent.
• VNF and NFVi tools and standards knowledge: ONAP, OPNFV, ETSI NFV ISG, ONF.
• Understanding the Telco OSS ecosystem and ideally deep knowledge of one or more of the existing OSS provider\'s products \xe2\x80\x93 Ciena Blue Planet, Amdocs, Ericsson, Netcracker, Oracle, Nokia, ETI, etc.
• Telecommunications technologies including Ethernet, SDWAN, DOCIS, PON, IP, and network security. Ciena MCP background is valuable. Telecom industry standards TM Forum Open APIs, ETSI, and TOSCA Orchestration modeling.
• Zero-touch provisioning technologies including PXIE, RFC 8572, and ONIE.
• Rest API, automation, and scripting skills including Ansible, Gitlab CI, JSON, TOSCA, and Python.
• Expertise in Ethernet and IP networks is required: network design, routing protocols, L2/L3, MEF, and network security.
• Excellent written, verbal, and data presentation communication skills.
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, Information Technologies, or equivalent experience.
• The ability to travel to support customer engagements.
• Position can be in North America at a Ciena office or in proximity to a customer/technology hub city in North America.
