Role

This temporary position will be joining the Internal Controls department for a 6 month term and part of the activities will include the review of the newly implemented ERP-SAP, the understanding of finance processes, internal controls, testing of finance processes, and other as required. The right candidate will have high attention to detail, the ability to quickly understand how accounting functions interrelate within an enterprise resource system, good writing skills to document in an overall concise manner, balance content with details, work in a team environment to achieve objectives, and the skill set to communicate through an oral and written manner.

This role will report to the Manager, Business Controls, ERP & Risk and is based at the Vancouver Corporate Office

Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to actively work with the key individuals in the organization on an enterprise resource planning systems implementation project, which would contain multiple companies accounting records.
  • Understanding accounting transactions that flow through the system, the internal controls designed in processing transactions, and the roles which ensure the system processes the data accurately. The processes would cover, but not be limited to the following:
  • Purchasing process from requisition to purchase order creation,
  • Approval matrixes designed for purchase approvals,
  • General ledger accounts setup,
  • Cost center / Internal order master setup,
  • Vendor master setup,
  • Asset master setup,
  • Journal entry processing,
  • Goods / service receipts,
  • Invoice processing,
  • Vendor payments,
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Currency translations,
  • Report used for operations and accounting, such as Trial balance, general ledger, cost center reports etc.,
  • System month-end period close process,
  • Processing functions assigned to security roles,
  • Documentation of internal controls defined in the process noted above,
  • Assist in internal control testing and the documentation of the results,
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience in internal controls, preferred.
  • Experience in SAP Material Management
  • Understanding of inventory management systems
  • Experience in customer service interaction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
