Position Overview:
The System Test Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our lithium-ion battery systems and embedded software throughout the development lifecycle. This position requires a strong technical background in embedded systems testing, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for ensuring high-quality deliverables. The System Test Specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and execute test plans, validate system functionality, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Plan Development and Execution:
Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans for embedded systems and lithium-ion battery products, aligned with product requirements and industry standards.
Design and execute test cases for embedded software, firmware, and hardware integration, including functional, performance, stress, and regression testing.
Validate system behavior under various conditions, including edge cases, to ensure robustness and reliability of battery systems and embedded components.
Utilize test automation tools and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
Hands-on Testing and Validation:
Perform hands-on testing of embedded systems, including battery management systems (BMS), microcontrollers, and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, SPI, I2C).
Conduct system-level testing to verify integration between hardware, firmware, and software components.
Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Leverage diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other equipment to validate system performance.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance:
Identify potential risks in embedded systems and proactively develop test cases to mitigate defects and ensure product safety and compliance.
Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and certifications relevant to embedded systems and battery products (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, UL, TUV).
Document test procedures, results, and findings to maintain traceability and support quality audits.
Collaboration and Process Improvement:
Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure testability and quality are built into the design process.
Identify opportunities for test process improvements, including automation and optimization, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Contribute to data-driven decision-making by analyzing test data and identifying trends to improve product quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
4-8 years of experience in embedded systems testing, system integration testing, or quality assurance, preferably in products involving electrical systems and embedded software.
Strong knowledge of embedded systems, including microcontrollers, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, SPI, I2C).
Proficiency in test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or similar).
Experience with testing hardware-software interfaces and familiarity with diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards relevant to embedded systems and battery products (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, UL, TUV).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Six Sigma, Lean, or other quality certifications are a plus.
