TEMPORARY VACANCY(1) Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week), System EngineerLOCATION: Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Chesley SALARY: $38.95 - $40.17/hr (Sept 1/21) COMMENCING: As soon as possible, ending December 13, 2023 or earlier if incumbent returns or circumstances change. REPORTS TO: Mike Savage, Information Communications Technology Services Assistant Manager DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and deployment of board servers, clusters, and storage
Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of servers, storage, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory and DNS
Data protection management, including backups and business continuity
Integration with external services and applications, including credential management
Configure, monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling board objectives and processes
Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term system needs
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system architecture, configuration, processes, roadmaps and service records
Conduct research on system products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the computing industry
Support specific applications, databases and systems
SQL databases management, configuration and reporting
Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software\xe2\x80\x99s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments
Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner
Ability to create roadmaps/lifecycles for hardware and software
Assist in designing and implementing data center/server room security features, including HVAC control, environmental alarms, and access restrictions
Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
A three-year Community College Diploma in computer science or related area of study
A minimum of five years previous work experience in a business information systems role
ASSETS:
Experience with Azure Cloud services, and integration with on-premise services, applications, credential management, and security
Expert in identity management, multi-factor authentication, and single sign-on
Design, implement, and maintain a Windows Server infrastructure in an enterprise scaled, highly virtualized environment
Proven experience with system capacity planning, security principles, and general system management best practices
Plan and implement a highly available enterprise infrastructure (Hyper-V and SQL clusters and server recovery mechanisms)
Strong networking skills (IPV4)
Strong knowledge of security and firewalls
Strong knowledge of backup strategies, server recovery, and business recovery processes
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 configuration and implementation
Excellent knowledge of SharePoint sites, document libraries, and security
Good understanding of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong customer service orientation
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Must have own automobile and valid license to meet work expectations
