MatrixSpec Solutions is looking for a full-time System Engineer who is motivated to solve challenging problems in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. The candidate will work with our multidisciplinary research and development team to develop innovative solutions that have a concrete impact on agri-food industry applications. This position will focus on improving performance of the current hyperspectral imaging system, designing and integrating new imaging systems based on project requirements. The successful candidate combines a solid technical background with strong communication and leadership skills to enhance performance of the hyperspectral imaging system so that it can acquire quality hyperspectral images to facilitate further data analysis and improve classification accuracy to meet the industrial application requirement.

Position Responsibilities

:

Analyze, validate and improve performance of the current hyperspectral imaging systems as well as different components including the camera, lights, and the PLC unit Design and develop new imaging systems to meet requirements Perform engineering analyses and studies to validate designs and/or enhance performance Provide hands on research and experiments that are related to imaging systems Communicate with suppliers and project partners Present the work and findings (written reports and oral presentations) Document processes and allow them to be reproduced.

Qualifications

:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related field with background in Optical Engineering and Photonics - PhD an asset At least two-years experience in Optical Systems, Photonics, or related area Experience in hyperspectral imaging systems development and analysis Experience with optical system test & measurements techniques Experience in a design role with a specialty in quality imaging system design/ development in a R&D environment Experience with a mathematical coding language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.) Knowledge of materials for optical systems (mirrors, lenses, coatings, mounts, assemblies) Knowledge of different type of light sources such as QTH, LED, laser, fluorescence, etc. Knowledges on CAD System Solidworks or similar software Good written & verbal communication skills (in English) Strong team player with result-oriented approach and high degree of self-motivation Ability to manage time effectively according to aggressive project schedules and quickly adapt to new project requirements Ability to work with agreed timelines and report on progress as and when due Should be able to take initiative but also follow a plan and work well as part of a team.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
