Spray Lake Sawmills Centre (SLSC) is a leading-edge sport and recreational facility encompassing 325,000 square feet, including an aquatic centre, four arenas and a curling centre, fitness & climbing facilities, an indoor turf, track, and gymnasium, and is home to several third-party tenants. About the Position
As a certified Swim Instructor, you will instruct high-quality Lifesaving Society swim lessons, monitor/maintain safe and efficient daily operations of the facility and it's programs, and ensure exceptional customer experiences by supporting a welcoming, fun and enjoyable aquatic environment. This position works as part of a larger team to ensure the safety and supervision of all guests in the Aquatic facility.

Must be able to regularly teach one of the following two schedules:
Ensure a safe aquatic environment for all guests, enforcing all pool rules and regulations.
Provide timely and professional interactions with all customers.
Plan and provide safe, effective, enjoyable and well-balanced classes, demonstrating professional behaviors through the education, motivation, encouragement and maintenance of constructive relationships with participants. Engage and assess each individual participant and their abilities. Prepare and organize equipment in advance of the classes, ensuring effective clean-up and follow-up for classes.
Act as a brand ambassador by promoting SLSC and the Aquatics programs and services.
Work independently and in a team environment to deliver a successful program and ensure effective team communications.
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all employees, guests, and program participants.
Adhere to all Alberta Public Pool Standards, Red Cross and Lifesaving Society, AHS and OHS standards.
Perform first aid as required.
Demonstrate effective risk management and educate others in risk and harm prevention.
Qualifications:
Age 15+ Required
Formal Swim Instructor Training with current certifications:
+ Lifesaving Society "Swim Instructor" or "Lifesaving Instructor" current within 2 years
+ Intermediate First Aid, current within 3 years
+ CPR-C/AED, current within 1 year Able to commit to consistent availability for within the seasonal swim lesson program schedules.
Experience leading a variety of aquatic courses is an asset
Able to produce creative aquatic lesson plans and adapt to suit individual needs and group dynamics.
Demonstrated and effective communication and listening skills.
Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and confidentiality
Additional Aquatic Certifications are an asset. Please note: At this time we are recruiting for Swim Instructors only and do not have any Lifeguarding vacancies.
