Position SummaryThe Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following in person (Regina) course during the Winter 2025 semester:SW 451 - Social Work Research
This course focuses on the contributions of research to effective social work practice and social policy. Emphasis is placed on understanding and critical assessing social work research, and on how to employ a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and community-based research methodologies to advance social work knowledge and practice.The semester class period is from January 6, 2025 to April 11, 2025 with the final exam period running from April 14 to 26, 2025.Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in person classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester in person on campus.Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren\'t limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Work HoursThis course is offered on Monday\'s 11:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus in-person in Regina (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.Delivery method, days and times are subject to change.
