Position Summary
The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following Regina face to face in person course during the Fall 2025 semester:
SW 417 - Substance Abuse: Impacts and Interventions
This course will explore the impact of alcohol, drugs, and behavioral addictions on individuals, families, and society. Using a bio-psycho-social perspective, students will critically examine a range of models of assessment, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery used to address the addictions related issues in diverse populations.
The semester class period is from September 2, 2025 to December 5, 2025 with the final exam period running from December 9 to 22, 2025.
Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in person classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester in person on campus.
Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren't limited to, the following:
xc2xb7 Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
xc2xb7 Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
xc2xb7 Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
xc2xb7 Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
xc2xb7 Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
xc2xb7 Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
xc2xb7 Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
xc2xb7 Master of Social Work (MSW)
xc2xb7 Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
xc2xb7 Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
xc2xb7 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
xc2xb7 Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

This course is offered on Monday's 2:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus in-person in Regina (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
