Position Summary
The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following Regina face to face in person (sync) course during the Fall 2025 semester:
SW 100 - Foundations in Social Work
This course explores social issues confronting the state, social welfare agencies and social workers in addressing and responding to societal inequalities and human need. Students will also be introduced to the roles and fields of practice in social work in Canada and the values and ethics that guide the profession.
The semester class period is from September 2 , 2025 to December 5, 2025 with the final exam period running from December 9 to 22, 2025.
Sessional Lecturers that are teaching classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester.
Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren't limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Master of Social Work (MSW);
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

This course is offered on Friday's 11:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach in person (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the room 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
