Position SummaryThe Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following in person (Regina) course during the Winter 2025 semester:SW 348 - Social Work Practicum I
Students, with support of agency supervision, will become directly involved in social work services and systems within the community, and experience professional practice. Seminars assist in the integration of theory and practice through sharing of experience and knowledge.The semester class period is from January 3, 2025 to April 18, 2025, with no final exam.Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in person classes are expected to teach 7 synchronous seminars throughout the semester in person on campus.Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren't limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 7 seminars throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Work HoursThe Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus in-person in Saskatoon (synchronous) for each of the 7 seminars, attend remote orientation, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each seminar starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.Course Details:
  • This course is offered on Friday's 11:30 a.m. - 2:15 a.m.
  • Required Remote Orientation: Jan 3 9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m;
  • Seminar Dates: Jan 10, Jan 24, Feb 7, Feb 28, Mar 14, 28, Apr 11
  • The semester is from January 3, 2025 to April 18, 2025, with no final exam.
