We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Standards Specialist at UL Standards and Engagement.

The Senior Standards Specialist for Sustainability will lead standards development working with subject matter experts, Technical Panels and Technical Committees to develop requirements and lead standards development activities to accomplish strategic and operational goals of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE). The Senior Standards Specialist will leverage expertise, experience, and stakeholder networks to anticipate issues, recognize patterns, and introduce solutions.

What you\'ll learn & achieve:

As the Senior Standards Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL Standards and Engagement as you:

  • Lead standards development activities utilizing expertise and knowledge of accreditation and internal business requirements to maximize efficiencies and improve the stakeholder experience.
  • Manage implementation of small to medium sized projects.
  • Provide leadership and support to project team members.
  • Primary point of contact on project related activities, issues, etc. Manages project risks and escalates accordingly.
  • Plans overall project and monitors progress throughout project lifecycle. Coordinates project and interdependencies.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the program management associated with assigned standards, providing input and recommendations to Program Managers related to their portfolio of standards.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Solid technical knowledge and experience of science, engineering and sustainability industry.
  • Strong project management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to identify and rank priorities as demonstrated by the ability to establish, track, and meet schedules for multiple projects while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.
Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:
  • A University degree in Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of directly related experience, or 3-4 years of directly related experience within UL.
  • Project Management Certificate, preferred.
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian Standards and Codes, various national, regional and international standardization bodies, a plus.
  • Knowledge of the conformity assessment industry.
