PURPOSE





This role is responsible for leading WhiteWater's corporate sustainability strategy and programs to advance our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments. You are a highly motivated individual overseeing initiatives related to greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement, ISO 14001 environmental management, ESG reporting, and sustainable product innovation. By collaborating across departments and with external partners, the you will be responsible to ensure that WhiteWater continues to operate responsibly, reduce environmental impact, and contribute positively to our communities while supporting our purpose of creating fun for families globally in a sustainable way.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:




Leadership:




Manage program and project schedules, budgets and resource requirements (e.g. ISO 14001 expansion, GHG measurement, Stage 0's and external development) Responsible for driving all sustainability initiatives, per the SLT direction Function as the prime point of contact for all sustainability queries Manage and oversee teams of cross-functional members and ensure there is no duplicating efforts Accountable and responsible for budget creation and management Accountable and responsible for the team's ability to achieve set goals and metrics (e.g. One-Pager goals) Responsible for NPRC type asks (e.g. resource or budget approvals / increases for programs or projects) Engage and manage stakeholders across the organization Provide technical direction and support to team members of various disciplines Provide SLT updates (Management Reviews) and corporate wide updates (Let's Talk) Manage departmental handovers (e.g. training DE on new Stage Gate tools) Lead engagements with external experts (e.g. consultants)



Corporate:




Lead company-wide GHG (Green House Gas) measurement and verification program in line with GHG Protocol, including organizing, collecting, cleaning and analysis of data for Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions Manage science-based targets (e.g. Net Zero targets) and drive programs & projects to reduce GHG emissions Create and manage tools to measure GHG emissions at product and project level Manage ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting program ensuring compliance with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. TCFD, SASB) and directives (e.g. CSRD) Manage office (and Derwent) improvements programs (e.g. River Trail, commuting, etc) Knowledge of current and emerging sustainability principles, regulations and policies, and ensuring compliance (e.g. municipal waste) Partners with Legal, Quality and Supply Chain to develop new policies, and monitors supplier's compliance with applicable regulations and WhiteWater policies



ISO 14001:




Manage corporate Environmental Management System (EMS) / ISO 14001 program Onboard new product lines into EMS (e.g. Endless Surf) Lead annual Internal Audits Co-ordinate annual External Audits, train employees on content, guide external auditors, and represent company for the majority of the EMS external audit Maintain and update Aspects & Impacts registers, and identify Significant Impacts Set and manage Environmental Objectives, Metrics & KPIs, and drive improvement programs and monitor program effectiveness Identify risks associated with Operational Controls and work with department/s to develop mitigation strategies Ensure Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) is functioning correctly through periodic emergency situational training and record keeping Lead Management Reviews with SLT, providing recommendations on future improvements Manage and close out Environmental NCRs / OFIs Provide corporate wide training to all levels



Sustainable Innovations:




Manage research and development (R&D) projects with internal teams and with external partners Interface with product managers to integrate sustainability efforts early and consistently in new product development Accountable and responsible for R&D projects to Half Waste by 2030 (e.g. waste management directories), reduce end-of-life impact of fiberglass (e.g. UVic research), reduce energy consumption of products (e.g. VFD analysis) and reduce water consumption of products Manage development and maintenance Engineering tools to be used in Stage Gate process (e.g. Sustainability Scorecard, Pugh Matrix, etc)



Technical Sales Support -

Sustainable Parks:




Accountable and responsible for answering sales operations (e.g. proposals) and client requests (e.g. CBAM, Merlin) Create industry engagement material and education material for clients (e.g. IAAPA sustainability summit) Create sales material (e.g. Sales center) and collaborate with sales teams to engage clients on their sustainability goals



CSR (Charity and Social Responsibility):




Responsible for internal communications on sustainability content (e.g. Let's Talk, Lunch & Learns, Sustainability Home Page (knowledge base) Manage water charity (Ocean Wise) engagement and relationship growth (e.g. organizing payment of 1% of profits from previous financial year). Manage charity fundraising efforts (e.g. Earth Month, affiliate/fundraising programs, etc).



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:




Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field (Master's preferred) ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification ESG and GHG certifications required Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in sustainability, environmental management, GHD measurement, and ESG program leadership Proven experience managing corporate sustainability programs, including GHG measurement, ISO 14001 systems, and ESG reporting Experience leading external audits, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability communications Exposure to sustainable product design / innovation and R&D collaborations is an asset



COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Deep understanding of sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, GHG Protocol, CSRD, TCFD, SASB Strong analytical and data management skills (e.g. Excel, Power BI, or carbon accounting tools) Excellent program and project management capability Strong communication and presentation skills for senior leadership and external audiences Strategic thinker who can also execute operationally across multiple departments
