Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Sustainability Communications Manager to join our team. The Sustainability Communications Manager will work collaboratively with Heidelberg Materials\xe2\x80\x99 sustainability experts to support the communication and education of our sustainability vision, strategy, and product offerings. Reporting to the Director, Sustainable Resource Development, this position will be based out of the Vancouver, BC office and will coordinate the alignment of the Northwest Region\xe2\x80\x99s sustainability communications efforts with Corporate and Group communications. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll get to do:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal experts to develop and implement opportunities to engage employees and external stakeholders in Heidelberg\xe2\x80\x99s ESG performance, low carbon offerings, circular economy, and digital solutions.
  • Create and curate new training modules as required to help educate and share technical information and success stories with a variety of audiences.
  • Track initiatives and support reporting requirements to integrate metrics and sustainability project details into communications.
  • Manage additional internal and external communications for the Region, as required.
  • Manage a complex series of communications materials and events, ensuring coordination of messaging, brand recognition and outreach efforts.
  • Ensure timely distribution of high-quality communications using various platforms and formats; including but not limited to high quality presentations, video/audio, talking points, media responses, newsletters, website content, email and published marketing materials.
  • Manage multiple forms of social media to generate and publish engaging and relevant content on various digital channels.
  • Proactively identify emerging issues and opportunities on a regular basis and recommend appropriate communications approaches.
  • Develop detailed presentations using specific templates, color schemes and naming conventions to support speaking engagements.
  • Create and maintain feedback mechanisms from the organization to the project team to assist in adaptation of messaging.
Who we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of industry-specific communications or marketing experience or equivalent
  • Degree, preferably in journalism, marketing, or communications.
  • Superior writing, editing and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt writing styles for various purposes, media requirements and audiences
  • Proven capability to confidently deliver presentations
  • Expert skills in Adobe and MS Office products, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Publisher
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of conventional and electronic media, various social media platforms, publishing, website development and communications product development
  • Ability to manage several initiatives concurrently, prioritize assignments, and be capable of shifting priorities quickly, as necessary
  • Able to work independently and lead in a team environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to layer communications to drive understanding around complex topics
  • Capacity to deal professionally and diplomatically with a wide variety of individuals and organizations
Work Environment:
  • Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
