About the job

A recent client opportunity and projected growth has led us to search for a smart, business-minded sustainability professional to join our Toronto based team. You will be dedicated entirely to one of our esteemed clients \xe2\x80\x93 a leader in the real estate sector - where you will work within the corporate sustainability team.

What you will be doing:

  • Assembling sustainability trend analysis for regions, funds, and asset classes.
  • Leveraging proprietary sustainability and utility data management systems to provide relevant, timely, and insightful reporting. Contributing to its continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Providing analytical support on property and portfolio-level energy, water, waste, GHG emissions performance for internal, investor, and public reporting needs.
  • Liaising between the sustainability team, property teams and energy consultants.
  • Contributing to the preparation of annual sustainability reporting such as GRESB, UN PRI and GRI.
  • Supporting the delivery and ongoing maintenance of portfolio-wide sustainability initiatives.
  • Co-ordinating with teams to support ongoing compliance with government energy and water benchmarking programs.
  • Working closely with property and asset management teams.
  • Ensuring data integrity in database systems, and supporting and managing data entry.
Please note that this is a hybrid opportunity. The successful candidate will be expected to work in-office 3 days/week (Tues-Thurs) at our client\'s downtown Toronto location.

What you need to have:
  • Undergraduate university degree or the equivalent in environmental sciences, energy management, business/commerce, physics, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Experience in defining performance metrics and the creation of Excel based tools to analyze and report on portfolio performance.
  • 1+ year of experience in the areas of sustainability and energy management in the commercial real estate, building development or property management sector.
  • Strong data management, analysis QA/QC skills (advanced Excel skills are a must; basic knowledge of dashboards such as Power BI, or a desire to learn, is considered an advantage).
  • Track record for developing and sustaining cooperative working relationships at varying levels of an organization. Easily adapts to different communication styles.
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality results, while working under tight or firm deadlines. Ability to embrace change \xe2\x80\x93 new ideas or ways of doing things, shifts in focus or priorities, organizational change etc.
What makes you stand out:
  • Working knowledge of the GHG Protocol, PCAF (Principles for Carbon Accounting Financials), CRREM (climate risk real estate monitor) and ENERGY STAR Portfolio manager are considered a strong advantage.
