Position Summary



Aburi Market Downtown is looking for a

Sushi Manager

to support the day-to-day operations of the sushi department, ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and food safety. This role is ideal for an experienced sushi professional ready to step into leadership while remaining hands-on in production. The Sushi Manager works closely with senior leadership to maintain consistency, manage inventory, and support team development.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee daily sushi preparation and production to ensure quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met Participate hands-on in all aspects of sushi making, including prep, rolling, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty items Support ordering, inventory management, and communication with suppliers Assist with scheduling, training, and supervising sushi team members Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Monitor product freshness, portion control, and waste reduction Assist with opening and closing procedures for the sushi department Step in as acting lead in the absence of the Senior Sushi Manager Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum 5 years of kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role Sushi experience is mandatory, with hands-on knowledge of traditional and modern techniques Experience in all aspects of sushi making, from preparation to final presentation Proven experience ordering products and communicating with suppliers Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced kitchen environment Food Safe certification is required; First Aid certification is an asset
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
