We are looking for a Surveyor responsible for delivering field and CAD services for the Projects Engineering team. We support the surface operations, construction and closure teams through engineering design and survey functions. Reporting to the Survey Supervisor and working in a rugged northern environment, you will be responsible for:
  • Standard construction/field surveying across site including staking out earthwork designs (roads, laydowns, pipe benches, dam embankments), picking up active dig faces, etc.
  • Drone operation for larger area surveys.
  • Laying out blast holes, pattern extents and dig limits.
  • Accurately surveying and reporting ore and crush stockpiles.
  • Ensuring the safety of yourself and your team members; actively participating in risk assessments and job hazard discussions.
  • Coordinating with external survey resources and engineering consultants for the on-time delivery of accurate as-built record information.
  • Preparing project survey files, forecasts, schedules, construction signoffs.
  • Coordinating between engineering, construction, survey and QC.
  • Assisting with project QA/QC systems and documentation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting machine control.
  • Monitoring project progress against budget and forecasted schedule.
  • Maintaining effective and on-going communications with the construction management team and contractor concerning issues and challenges.
  • Working alongside equipment operators and guiding co-op students and graduate engineers.
About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Diploma in Geomatics, Drafting, Civil, Mining or Forestry Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction, mining, earthworks or civil infrastructure.
  • Highly developed skills in GPS survey, Total Station, drone operation and drafting.
  • Proficient with programs including: Civil3D, Vulcan, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Prism.
  • Have or be eligible for a Northwest Territories Mine Supervisor Certificate \xe2\x80\x93 Level 1 or 2.
  • Knowledge of construction survey techniques, experience meeting project delivery scheduling and cost control.
  • Ability to work long hours in a remote environment; physically able to walk long distances in rugged terrain and perform various manual handling tasks.
