Please note: This is a site based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada. Flights paid for out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton. Camp accommodations are provided while on shift. Reporting to the Survey Manager the Surveyor will make exact measurements and provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth\'s surface for engineering, construction, and other purposes. Responsibilities
Provides construction layout data as requested, including control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (i.e., forms for concrete pours, curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway, storm sewer, etc.)
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys
Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy
Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations
Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features
Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
Prepare clear and accurate field notes and calculations
Use and application of Geographic Information Systems or GIS software and Computer Aided Design and Drafting software (CAD)
Other related duties as assigned from time to time
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in computer and survey software applications
Knowledge of RTK, robotic total stations, digital levels and data collectors
Proficient with Trimble SCS900 software and Trimble Business Center
Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills
Safety minded
Familiarity with active construction sites
Ability to make sound decisions
Flexible and highly motivated
Detail-oriented
Experience/ Qualifications
2-year technical diploma in Geomatics with 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in industrial and construction surveying projects
Valid drivers license
Minimum 1 year of previous construction experience
Flexibility to work day and night shift in all weather conditions
Please Note: This is a site-based position located at the Site C Dam in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Preference will be given to qualified, local candidates. However, we will also consider fly in/out candidates based out of Vancouver, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton.
