Field Surveyor (g License Required)

Job Description

This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing and organizing basic field engineering data to develop design layouts and all engineering documentation required for a complete functional design.This position is supporting our Telecon Design Team in Carp, ON. Candidates must have a full and valid G license and no more than 4 demerit points.Responsibilities

  • Collects aerial and underground field data for pole line engineering data;
  • Performs site surveys to collect, analyze and organize basic engineering data to develop design layouts and prepare all engineering documentation required for a complete functional design;
  • Prepares layouts and detail drawings with complex assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches;
  • Liaison with internal and external customers, developers, municipal officials and other approving authorities to remove roadblocks and obtain the necessary approvals of the design drawings;
  • Prepare accurate documentation to track time, expenses and events for billing purpose;
  • Adheres to all health and safety guidelines;
  • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Surveyor Role is an asset; or in Telecommunications industry;
  • Experience in Outside Plant design and field experience is considered an asset;
  • Experience in drafting design tools (i.e. AutoCAD) is considered an asset;
  • Must have a valid full-G driver's license and no more than 4 demerit points;
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle in order to get to our office;
  • Must be willing to travel when required (within the 613 area code);
  • Must follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules and regulations;
  • Ability to work in any and all weather conditions;
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs;
  • Computer literacy; Microsoft Office Suite (Email, Word, Excel) and MS Teams are nice to have.
  • Demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills;
  • Abilities in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines;
  • Demonstrated effective decision-making skills while under limited supervision;
  • Self-motivated, works well with minimum or no direct supervision;
  • Willing to work various shifts to meet client requirements;

  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required;
