Sandstone Surveying and Engineering is a locally owned and operated company. We are formerly Derek A. French Professional Services. We do civil engineering, primarily road construction and stormwater design, and legal surveying. We are one of the few companies on PEI to offer both, making us a leader in residential subdivision development.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated

Surveying Technician

to join our growing team. The successful candidate will assist with field and office survey work, operating modern equipment and software to support a wide range of projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to grow their career in surveying and geomatics.

Key Responsibilities

Assist survey crew in the field, including setting up, operating, and maintaining survey equipment (GPS, total stations, data collectors, etc.). Collect, process, and verify survey data with accuracy and efficiency. Perform boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys under supervision. Prepare field notes, sketches, and digital files for project documentation. Work closely with project managers and senior surveyors to meet project deadlines. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

Diploma or certificate in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience with survey equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levels. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other surveying software is considered an asset. Strong math and problem-solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license (required).

Pay: $22.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
