THE ROLE
As a Party Chief, you will be responsible for overseeing survey projects. Your role will involve, conducting legal surveys to establish the location of real property boundaries, contours and other features as well as managing data collection to ensure accurate and precise measurements. You will also be required to prepare and maintain drawings, official plans, records and documents pertaining to these surveys. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' applicable experience, strong background in data management and be proficient in various surveying technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish and mark legal boundaries of properties, parcels of lands, and other various sites
Survey and lay out areas for rural and urban development
Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment, global positioning systems (GPS)
Review and verify field data for accuracy and completeness before submitting reports
Analyze, manage and display data using geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-aided design and drafting (CAD)
Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities
Prepare or supervise the preparation and compilation of all data, plans, charts, records and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries
Communicate effectively with project managers, draftspersons, and clients to provide updates and address any issues
May supervise other surveyors, and field assistants
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols during field operations
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to surveying equipment and software
Train and mentor junior surveyors and field staff
Other tasks as identified
WHAT YOU BRING
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required
Completion of a relevant post-secondary program an asset
Proficiency in using surveying equipment and software, including GPS, total stations, and AutoCAD
Strong understanding of the Surveyors Act, survey principles, methods, and legal requirements
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy in survey work
Able to work independently or as a team
Valid G-Class Ontario driver's license
Ability to travel to different job sites as required

Physical ability to work in various outdoor environments, including fields, marshes, uneven terrain, and undeveloped areas
Ability to lift and carry surveying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
