BASE is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join our team in Calgary! This role offers a unique opportunity for both full-time employees and contract surveyors. Alternatively, as a contract surveyor, you have the flexibility to work on a project-specific basis. The Party Chief, reporting directly to the Field Manager, will be comfortable performing various types of oil & gas surveys. The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Party Chief or in a similar position. This role provides an exciting avenue for skilled surveyors to thrive in Southern Alberta's varied and challenging surveying landscape.

Duties and responsibilities
Execute assigned tasks in accordance with the directives of the Field Manager.
Prepare survey sites by configuring survey equipment and control setup.
Locate primary and secondary survey evidence to ensure accurate data collection.
Conduct field calculations and interpret survey data derived from construction and engineering drawings.
Ensure precise data collection, field measurements, and timely data downloading for technician use.
Prepare detailed, accurate, and concise survey notes to document findings effectively.
Maintain consistency and timeliness in completing daily time tickets and field-level hazard assessments for all crew members.
Effectively communicate with the Field Manager, Project Manager, clients, and contractors as needed to ensure project alignment.
Ensure all crew members are equipped with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that it is in acceptable working condition, in compliance with BASE Health & Safety Standards.
Adhere to safe work practices as outlined by the BASE Health & Safety Standards.
Identify hazards promptly and take appropriate measures in accordance with BASE Health & Safety Standards
Qualifications
Possess a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in energy & resources surveying, or a comparable role.
UAV Pilot License (not required for role, but preferred).
Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions.
Proficient in operating ATVs and snowmobiles.
Possess or be willing to obtain certifications in: First Aid - Level C, WHMIS with GHS, PST, H2S, CST and/or PST and Ground Disturbance training
Capable of operating survey field equipment, specifically Trimble equipment and Trimble Business Center.
Capable of operating line locator for shallow utilities & pipelines
Familiarity with Micro Survey and AutoCAD.
Proficient in general computer use and Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
Competent in using basic tools such as tape measures, shovels, and sledgehammers.
Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs or more over a distance
Preference will be given to candidates with formal Survey Technician training from a recognized trade school (although not required)

Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour
