McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Survey CAD Technologist to join our established Survey team in Canmore, AB. We are seeking a strong communicator who has excellent drafting skills and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. What You'll Do

Interpret field data to create accurate survey drawings and legal plans, which will include downloading and editing field data, interpreting field notes and sketches, and processing conventional and GPS data and point cloud data using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed. Complete calculations as needed and prepare for drafting or client project reporting. Contribute to the cost effective and timely production of survey drawings and designs that include legal survey, topographic, 3d modeling, engineering and construction layout plans. Liaise with Project Managers and clients regarding enquiries and issues. Implement and ensure quality assurance on all field returns. Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.

What You'll Bring

Working experience is prioritized with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a survey office technician role; experience in legal and engineering surveys is considered a strong asset, degree or technical diploma in Geomatics is beneficial. Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey, Trimble Business Center, and point cloud software are assets. Knowledge of survey and boundary calculation, geodetic coordinate systems and map projections. Strong understanding of survey methodology and data handling with ability to review and understand survey field notes to provide feedback to crews and project managers with data insights. Experience with preparation of Alberta legal survey drawings, including Subdivision plans, Condominium plans, Right of way plans and Real Property Reports. Experience preparing field calculations from engineering drawings for construction survey layout. Experience working with 3D data (ie. Scanning, lidar, photogrammetry models, etc. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work independently and within a busy, high-performing, deadline-oriented team.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per annum. Overtime is also offered and can contribute to higher earning potential. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
