Midwest Surveys is an employee-owned professional land surveying firm providing geomatics deliverables designed for municipal, oil & gas, utility, and construction applications through our ten offices in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.

Survey Assistant's Role:

In this field position, you will be assisting a Crew Chief in performing municipal surveying. Travel out of town may be required.

Survey Assistant duties include:

• Assisting a Crew Chief in locating property boundaries, buildings, structures and natural or human-made features
• Operation of Global Positioning System (GPS), plus a variety of other survey equipment; and
• Maintenance of hand and power tools, survey equipment, vehicles, and supplies.

If you have a willingness to learn, we will provide you with on-the-job training. The Survey Assistant will be paired with an experienced Crew Chief, providing mentorship and one-on-one training. There is an opportunity for career advancement as we continue to expand our local presence.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid class 5 driver's license (abstract required at time of interview)
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week (with the potential for overtime)
• Safety training (e.g., H2S, First Aid, etc.) is required and will be provided as needed
• Compliance with our drug and alcohol policy, which includes screening, is mandatory
• Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job
• Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions
• Preferred candidates will have:

• Previous Survey Assistant experience and/or a diploma in survey technology.
• Knowledge in the operation of Total Station and GPS equipment
