Louis W Bray Construction is currently seeking a full-time Construction Assistant to join our winning team and support the completion of Heavy Civil Construction projects throughout the Ottawa area.

The following are the key responsibilities for the position:

  • Conducts field surveys and operates survey instruments and computer equipment
  • Directs equipment operators to adjust grade by moving earth, gravel, and other materials
  • Ensures total station, GPS, and other equipment is calibrated to correct tolerances
  • Verifies and records measurements and other information obtained during field survey activities
  • Assists in the preparation of quantity measurements, surface design, progress reports
  • Compaction testing while managing the nuclear gauges and safety requirements thereof
  • Works with outside surveyors to collect data and interpret any issues
  • Provide as-builts to site teams and clients
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work with employees and managers as part of a team
  • Detail oriented; excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Able to understand priorities and manage their time accordingly
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, specifically with heavy civil construction projects
  • Completion of any: High School Diploma, vocational training, post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience using total stations and GPS (Topcon) equipment is considered an asset
  • Ability to thoroughly read and interpret drawings and project plans
  • Possesses a valid G driver’s license
