Your Opportunity:

Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Processor position. Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work as part of our surgical and endoscopy teams. Wetaskiwin is a busy OR with three theaters performing a variety of general, gynecological, and ophthalmologic surgeries in addition to the well-established endoscopy program. We are excited to be working on expanding our programs in alignment with the Alberta Surgical Initiative and are looking for a dedicated Surgical Processor to join our team. The Surgical Processor performs a variety of tasks associated with the sterilization and reassembly of hospital supplies, equipment, and surgical instruments in accordance with established Alberta Health Services' standards and practices. You will be responsible for Collecting, sorting, and dismantling soiled instruments and equipment then decontaminating and reassembling instruments and equipment used in patient care. As a Surgical Processor you will Inspect, sort, assemble, test and package operating room instrument sets ensuring all instruments are fully assembled and functioning for end users. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means "the hills where peace was made". You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There's always something to do in Wetaskiwin!

Description:

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:
