Your Opportunity:

Wainwright has an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Processor position. Wainwright is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work as part of our surgical and endoscopy teams. We are excited to be working on expanding our programs in alignment with the Alberta Surgical Initiative and are looking for a dedicated Surgical Processor to join our team. The Surgical Processor performs a variety of tasks associated with the sterilization and reassembly of hospital supplies, equipment, and surgical instruments in accordance with established Alberta Health Services\' standards and practices. Specific duties include decontamination of all surgical instrumentation & flexible/rigid scopes, inspection, testing, assembly, wrapping, sterilizing in steam or low temperature, low- & high-level disinfection following prescribed techniques. You will maintain rigorous record/documentation as required. Wainwright is a vibrant and friendly community of around 7,000 located in east central Alberta on highway 14 and 41. Wainwright is a major service centre for the agriculture and oil and gas industries and is home to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, which trains our National Defence personnel. Description:

As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

This role requires you to lift 10-20 pounds consistently and standing for 7.75 hours well performing repetitive tasks. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and knowledge of operating room instrumentation is a requirement; background familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is an asset. Only individuals who have demonstrated a knowledge of and documented competency in all aspects of medical device reprocessing will be given the responsibility for these duties.
