Surgical Coordinator/ophthalmic Assistant

Job Description

Position Summary:
Performs basic patient care, Surgical Booking and providing in depth information during Surgical Consultation as directed by Physicians and Management.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Meeting with patients in consultation to provide them with Cataract and Dry Eye information

- Scheduling of surgical testing and counselling

- Scheduling and maintaining surgical schedules

- Scheduling laser eye surgery
- Confirming surgical times and instructions regarding what to do prior to and on the day of surgery
- Answering technical and post op questions regarding surgery, treatments and lenses
- Scheduling Post-Operative Appointments
- Creating Surgical Packages for consultation surgery and post-operative care
- Answer telephone calls and common questions regarding surgical times, appointments and instructions
- Ability to do other administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or Equivalent
- 2+ Previous years' experience within an Ophthalmology practice and/or Optometry practice

- Sales experience would be an asset
- Certified COA is considered an asset

-Strong computer skills, previous EMR experience is an asset
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records is an asset

- Ability to work in stressful situations
- Ability to work in coordination with surgical centers, physicians and lens technicians
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
- Previous Sales Experience

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary. We offer benefits packages along with a staff retention program.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
