Windsor Oral Surgery

Our scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, the extraction of teeth, placement of dental implants, biopsies, TMD and jaw surgery. We ensure that everyone receives the treatment they need to improve their lives whether it be on an elective or emergent basis. We provide on-site sedation for the comfort of our patients and also perform some of our extensive surgical procedures within our local hospitals.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled
Surgical Dental Assistant Level II
to join our dedicated team of oral health professionals. If you have a passion for helping people, and would like to work alongside a progressive surgeon, we want to hear from you.
As a Surgical Dental Assistant at Windsor Oral Surgery, you will work side-by-side with Dr. Multari in our Windsor-based practice, as well as at our local hospitals assisting with complex surgical procedures. In additional to surgical DA work, this role will also support the administrative needs to the practice, such as treatment planning, reception duties, and other administrative tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting our surgeon with all surgical procedures with local anesthesia, nitrous oxide sedation or intravenous sedation in office.
Facilitating patient consultations by having necessary information available to present to our surgeon including a full review of the patient's medical history, x-rays, medication lists and lab work.
Operating X-ray equipment to process radiographs for diagnostic purposes including but not limited to periapical radiographs, panoramic radiographs, and cone beam CT scans. Performs necessary calibration tests on equipment as required.
Providing leadership in infection control policies and procedures. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing of surgical instruments. Maintains infection control logs as well as daily processing of biological indicators.
Anticipating needs prior to surgery including setting up operatories prior to the procedure to ensure any additional instruments, materials and equipment be in the right place at the right time.
Demonstrating competency in dental lab work including the taking of impressions, pouring and trimming models.
Assisting our surgeon at local hospitals for surgical procedures such as extractions, bone grafting, biopsies, facial trauma and orthognathic surgery.
Maintaining appropriate inventory of dental supplies and fostering good relationships with dental supply companies.
Providing administrative support to the front desk by checking patients in, confirming appointments, calling post-op and follow-up patients, etc.
Effectively communicating patient treatment plans with the administrative staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on patient comfort and reassurance.
Composed and reliable under pressure; able to respond effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Proactive in anticipating the needs of both patients and the surgeon during procedures.
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Ability to learn new techniques in digital dentistry and to utilize new technology to enhance delivery of treatment.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Qualifications and Experience
Level 2 Dental Assistant Certification is required including HARP certification.
Current BLS
Experience working at general and/or specialty dental practice is required.
Previous experience working as a surgical dental assistant is considered an asset.
