Job Summary

Surf Instructors are responsible for providing exceptional ocean experiences, customer service and assisting with daily operational duties in Pacific Surf Company's Water department. Instructors work with fellow PSCo team members to achieve Pacific Surf Company's Mission Statement, guided by our company pillars & culture.

Duties

Check and monitor weather and surf conditions daily Select appropriate venues and develop lesson plan(s) for activities. Coordinate with other instructors and administration staff. Arrange and prepare activity equipment and activity areas. Correctly administer activity participation forms & waivers Coordinate activity, appropriate equipment, & Instructor participate in the correct use of equipment. Instruct, teach and demonstrate the technical skills required for the activity Supervise, provide feedback and evaluation throughout the activity. Provide first aid and assistance if/when required. Ensure participants are hosted from the start to the finish of the activity. Store and secure all equipment after the activity. Clean and tidy all activity and communal areas.

Skills & Training

Professional, punctual and well organized Strong Communication & Customer Service Skills Teaching, Coaching and/or Instruction Skills Comprehensive surfing experience Intermediate Surf Skills: The surfer can surf unsupervised in suitable conditions and are consistently 'out the back' beyond breaking waves. Traversing waves, they are kicking out or turning to the beach at the end of the ride. This surfer understands and applies basic surf and beach etiquette at all times. KEY SKILLS: The surfer can, without assistance, catch and traverse (trim) across small (under head height) unbroken (green) waves in BOTH directions (forehand and backhand), completing the wave in control.*
First Aid CPR-C Certification (compulsory)
Lifesaving Certification (compulsory)
ISA Level 1 Surf Coaching Certification (not compulsory)

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
