CMHA Kelowna is hiring a full-time Supportive Housing Team Lead for our Ellis Place Supportive Housing Program. This position offers 37.5 hours per week, with a typical work week of Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm.

WHO IS A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING TEAM LEAD?

The Supportive Housing Team Lead (TL) ensures that staff are trained and supported to achieve the best possible standards of practice for program participants. TLs generate positive energy, creativity and teamwork among staff and provide a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. TLs also perform administrative duties including time management of staff, as well as program protocol development and implementation.

WHAT DOES A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING TEAM LEAD DO?

Implements programs to meet pre-established goals and objectives, including determining methods of operating and evaluating the program Participates in case planning with participants and/or healthcare providers to meet the needs of the participants and advocate for participants by problem solving in areas such as financial assistance and accessing community resources Acts as a liaison with community agencies, and promotes and encourages community involvement in the program Acts as a representative for Supportive Housing site and CMHA Kelowna with community members impacted by or commenting on the operations of the housing site, ensuring respectful and productive relationships and communication Builds and maintains relationships with community groups and professionals to identify trends and priority health issues, promote interest and participation, and support for the program Supervises staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback, determining training requirements, orienting new staff, and maintaining timekeeping and attendance records as well as resolve staffing issues Develops and fosters a cohesive team environment through regular meetings, activities and ongoing team development Assists in recruitment and selection of staff by performing duties such as reviewing applications, developing interview questions and participating in interviews Ensures compliance with OH&S policies and procedures Provides crisis intervention in situations such as medical emergencies and client disputes Ensures Critical Incident Reports and WorkSafeBC Illness & Injury Reports are completed by staff in a timely manner Manages approved budget, monitors and authorizes budgeted expenditures, and assists with financial reports and payment Reviews and maintains related documentation such as quarterly and annual reports Performs other related duties as assigned.

YOUR STRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience working in a Supportive Housing environment required Valid Class 5 BC driver's license Reliable vehicle and the ability to travel between facilities and other locations on a frequent basis, as well as transporting program participants within the community on an rare basis Criminal Record Check clearance in the Vulnerable Sector Degree or diploma in Social Services or related field considered an asset Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Naloxone, MHFA, ASIST, Mandt and Food Safe considered an asset Supervisory experience considered an asset Experience working in the Community Social Service sector considered an asset Ability to engage respectfully and develop rapport with participants, with multiple barriers, through a harm reduction lens Ability to work independently and in cooperation with team members Understanding of and commitment to working with people experiencing mental health concerns and substance use Ability to supervise, coach, and resolve staff challenges Ability to maintain consistent professional boundaries Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel Working knowledge of community-based resource Understanding of working with a Trauma Informed lens Understanding of Harm Reduction and Housing First principles Strong attention to detail Ability to plan, organize and prioritize Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills Verbal and written communication skills Ability to be regularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering from trauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental health challenges and/or mental illness Ability to be regularly exposed to and in direct contact with dust, dirt, germs and human bio-products
