SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING - Case Manager (Term)




New Directions is a non-profit social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that provide supports in a variety of settings and foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities.

Supported Independent Living (S.I.L)

is one of the many services offered by New Directions. S.I.L provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community.

Responsibilities Include:



Fostering positive, respectful, and non-judgmental relationships with individuals and their supports Development and implementation of support plans in collaboration with individuals supported and stakeholders Maintain standards for administration and documentation, aligned with best practice and appropriate risk management Liaising with funders, families, and other community support services Provide effective financial management specific to the needs of each individual Knowledge of and experience navigating community resources and advocating for services and supports Knowledge of addictions supports, services and resources available in the community Ability to direct and delegate tasks to Community Resource Workers Participating in the On-Call rotation Other assigned duties as required

Position Requirements:



Post-secondary education in a social services field (ex. social work, psychology, disability, community support, etc) with experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities A minimum of five years' experience in direct support roles in the disability services field (or related field), with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred Related experience may include some or all of the following: working with individuals who may have mental health issues, individuals with a history of trauma, individuals who live with autism spectrum disorder, FASD, working with those who live in poverty and supporting individuals who are or have been sexually exploited as well as individuals who are in conflict with the law Proven ability to provide effective leadership within a team environment with respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness Proven ability to work within the person-led framework Excellent time management, organizational skills along with professional verbal and written communication Proven knowledge and ability in decision-making, problem-solving, conflict resolution, crisis management and intervention Applicants are required to have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for work Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office and Outlook Current First Aid/CPR, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certifications would be considered assets


The salary range for this

1-year term

, 70-hour biweekly position is $26.28 to $33.90 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience.


The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Prior Contact, and Adult Abuse Registry Checks. A recent Driver's Abstract and Driver's Safety Rating must be provided. Access to a vehicle is required.
