Supported Child Development Educator (full-time Term 35 hours/week)

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House is looking for experienced, passionate, and values-based Early Childhood Educator to join our 3-5 Group Daycare team located at 800 east Broadway.

You are passionate about creating inclusive early learning spaces and possess excellent and respectful guiding and caring skills.
About the Position
The Supported Child Development Educator works directly with children referred to Supported Child Development as well as a part of the team of educators, attend meetings and liaise with Supported Child Development and other service providers, and implement and follow guidance provided by the supervisor and service providers (Speech and Language therapist, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist, Supported Child Development and Behavioural consultants and other providers as needed). The position is subject to continuous funding from the BC Centre for Ability.
Skills and Qualifications
Valid BC Basic Early Childhood Education Certificate.
Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
Minimum 2 years of experience in inclusive licensed childcare.
Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach.
Understanding and commitment to creating inclusive spaces.
Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as a part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical stamina to keep up with energetic children (may require lifting).
Solid knowledge and experience implementing safe and respectful strategies to support children in co-regulating strong emotions.
Creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and sense of humour.
Non-violent Intervention training/ experience is an asset.
Terms
Term position until August 2026.
Full time -35 hours per week.
Rotating shifts between 7:45am -5:30pm Monday to Friday.
Compensation: Band C2 $22 to $23.57 Based on experience level and qualifications.

This position works in person at MPNH.
This position works some evenings and weekends.
This position is subject to funding from the BC Centre for Abilty.
