Shalom Homes Ltd. is a licensed children's residential program in Alberta, designed to provide a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment for children and youth who have experienced trauma. Our mission is to offer trauma-informed care that fosters safety, growth, connection, and healing.
We are currently seeking
Community Support Workers (CSWs)
to join our team. We're hiring for
full-time, part-time
, and
flexible rotating schedules
- including workers who are available on
alternating weeks
or who prefer
week-by-week availability
. We are urgently looking for compassionate, reliable, and professional individuals to fill a variety of shifts.
Position Overview:
As a CSW, you will be part of a frontline support team helping youth build life skills, access resources, and manage emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work in a trauma-informed environment using a person-centered approach that promotes safety, autonomy, and healthy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide daily care and supervision for youth in accordance with trauma-informed practices.
Support youth in maintaining their physical and mental well-being.
Recognize and respond to signs of emotional or behavioral distress.
Help implement person-centered plans, including recreational and educational activities.
Encourage community involvement and social connection.
Maintain respectful and supportive relationships with youth and their care teams.
Complete all required documentation clearly and promptly.
Follow all safety, emergency, and program procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
Clear Police Information Check (Criminal Record + Vulnerable Sector)
CPR Certification
Valid Driver's License (or working toward within 6 months)
Preferred:
Minimum 3 years of related experience
Post-secondary education in Human Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or related field
Experience working with youth who have experienced trauma
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and diverse communities
Previous training in any of the following is an asset: First Aid, Suicide Intervention, NCI, Harm Reduction, MANDT, Self-Harm Awareness, Crisis De-escalation, Cultural Diversity, Food Safety, and more

Strong boundaries and reliability
Ability to stay calm under pressure and in crisis situations
Cultural sensitivity and inclusive practices
