JOB SUMMARY Turning Leaf Support Services\xe2\x80\x99 Intensive Home Supports (IHS) Division is designed to provide 24-hour, in facility, person-centered supports to adults (or individuals transitioning to adulthood) who are living with intellectual challenge, developmental disability and/or mental illness. IHS Direct Support Workers will work directly with our participants in helping set goals and making healthy life choices. IHS Direct Support Workers will work closely with and report to the IHS Supervisors to observe, plan, implement and execute programs and activities that promote and encourage learning and development in daily living, social and life skills. *Currently hiring casuals (schedule availability 8am-4pm, Monday to Sunday) ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS \xc2\xa7 Cover letter and updated resume \xc2\xa7 18 years of age or older \xc2\xa7 Available anytime 32 - 40 hours p/week (Full time) \xc2\xa7 Available anytime 15 \xe2\x80\x93 25 hours p/week (Part time) \xc2\xa7 Available anytime 15- hours p/week (Casual) \xc2\xa7 Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (no older than 3 months) \xc2\xa7 Valid Standard First Aid / CPR Certification \xc2\xa7 Minimum one-year direct support experience working in a residential or community setting \xc2\xa7 Completion of a Post-Secondary Education in Human Services (Certificate, Diploma or Degree) is considered an asset \xc2\xa7 Three employment references QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Turning Leaf IHS Direct Support Workers must possess the capacity to be aware of and control one\xe2\x80\x99s emotions. Moreover, IHS Direct Support Workers must be able to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously, empathetically, and professionally while executing their responsibilities and providing Turning Leaf\xe2\x80\x99s person-centered supports. In addition, every IHS Direct Support Worker must possess experience with and skills in: \xc2\xa7 Excellent written and oral communication skills \xc2\xa7 Working with adults who are living with an intellectual challenge, mental illness and who are in conflict with the law \xc2\xa7 De-escalating aggressive behavior \xc2\xa7 Conflict resolution skills \xc2\xa7 Aptitude towards managing crisis SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIRES Care and Supervision of the residents- includes, but not limited to: \xc2\xa7 Helping residents with daily activities \xc2\xa7 Monitoring and/or administering medications. \xc2\xa7 Monitoring basic medical care, follow-ups and maintaining required records \xc2\xa7 Encouraging residents to participate in social/recreational activities this will include supporting participants in community-based settings. \xc2\xa7 Dietary/food services including preparing/serving meals. \xc2\xa7 Domestic support/facility maintenance including and not limited to cleaning, laundry, trash removal etc. \xc2\xa7 Attend training and staff meetings when necessary; they are to be treated like a scheduled shift. \xc2\xa7 Written reports are maintained throughout your shift as per licensing standards. \xc2\xa7 Successfully create and submit incident reports when required. \xc2\xa7 Other duties as assigned.
