What we are looking:
Ensures a clean, safe and attractive environment for patients, visitors and staff by maintaining the clinical unit area according to PIDAC Standards for Environmental Cleaning within a Healthcare setting, following all department/hospital policies & procedures are being adhered to:Housekeeping duties related to all patient care areas, this includes cleaning up body fluids (urine, feces and blood) Cleaning and setting up patient rooms, washrooms, removing dirty bed linens, cleaning and remaking beds and supplying linens. Cleaning non patient care areas Performs room transfer, discharges, terminal cleaning and floor and unit project cleaning Safely operates housekeeping chemicals and equipment (autoscrubbers, burnishers, vacuums and steamers) Assist with patient moves/ transfer within unit or adjacent unit Assist with equipment cleaning, transporting and storing. Report any concerns with equipment or that require repair to Supervisor Patient meal tray collection and water distribution Responds to Emergency codes as required Will be required to work in potentially infectious areas Collection and Handling of waste, linen, recycling, and bio hazardous waste, radioactive waste, pharmaceutical waste, and anatomical waste as required. Replacement of sharps container and wall mounted sanitizer as required Involved in Quality Assurance programs and Audits - Patient Rounding, MyCTE, and other hospital initiatives Restocks PPE supplies into PPE wall bins, nurse medication carts and emergency bedside supplies and kits Disposes Pulp products (such as single-use bedpans and urinals) and maceratable wipes into macerator and routine cleaning of macerator Responding to call bells/patient needs within scope of SSA role such as: water, extra linen, routine/ad-hoc clean of patient room as required

What you bring to the role:Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience Previous experience in environmental services and patient transport, preferably in a hospital setting considered an asset Good communication skills (reading, writing and verbal) as well as interpersonal, organizational and prioritizing skills Familiarity and comfort with technology systems (computers, smart phones) Evidence of ability to work well independently and as a member of the team Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position (lifting up to 60 pounds) Well-developed customer service focus with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the team Knowledge of the OHHA, WHMIS and other relevant legislation Understanding of infection control practices Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required


Work Schedule:

The successful candidate must be flexible to cover any shift and assignment as required, including weekends and statutory holidays.
Shifts are currently as follows, Days - 0630-1430hrs Evenings - 1500-2300hrs
