What will you do at Ciena?

Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist - will be responsible for purchasing equipment, materials and services required across the Global Supply Chain Test Engineering Team across NPI and Manufacturing teams.

The Procurement Specialist - will work closely with the internal customers and external vendors to ensure timely processing of the purchase orders through Jira and Oracle applications.

The successful candidate will be accountable for

• Processing of tickets in Jira, including timely updates to required fields updates for performance metrics and analytics
• Efficiently processing Oracle, CPODS and credit cards transaction orders for the supply chain test engineering teams
• Managing vendors list existing and requesting new vendors to be added to Oracle as required.
• Ensure all purchased equipment and material is documented in the inventory tracking (CATS) and Oracle.
• Engaging with the vendors to obtain latest information on the orders and associated items delivery status
• Follow up with suppliers on equipment availability, order details, revisions, costing, estimated delivery dates, and invoicing.
• Resolving routine problems with suppliers relating to parts, documentation, shipping errors, pricing and invoicing
• Ensure procurement tool (Jira), inventory software CATS and Oracle systems are maintained and up to date
• Perform all the deliverables in line with the procurement processes and to meet expected procurement permeance metrics
• Work with the test engineering primes and assets management team in process improvements
• Manage assigned projects as required, ensuring timely execution to meet teams operational requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• High school graduate; post-secondary education preferably in supply management, procurement and/or logistics
• 3 to 7 years of related work experience
• Ability to proactively initiate and maintain business relationships with internal and external clients
• Very well organized, self-motivated team player, able to work well under pressure
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
• Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently as well collaborates well within team
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, primarily Excel, Outlook, teams
