Island Gold Mine
is one of Canada's highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. With over 550 team members, the underground operation is located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:
This role is responsible to provide leadership and management of the warehouse and purchasing department at the mine site. To oversee all aspects of the supply chain function including but not limited to:
Deliver on procurement vision in accordance with business plans for the Island Gold Site,
Develop and implement procurement and inventory management best practices,
Manage day-to-day on-site warehouse operations with a focus on optimizing inventory value, turnover, aging and obsolescence,
Direct, coach, and manage site-based team members,
Work in close coordination with Corporate Procurement to support procurement, inventory and/or logistics focused initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safety:
Serve as a role model to the Supply Chain team around safety, teamwork, internal customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Commit to disseminating and adhering to Health, Safety and Environment policies.
General:
Formulate and execute on business plans for the procurement and warehouse function at site, in close coordination with corporate / regional procurement strategy.
Oversees the implementation of processes, policies, systems and practices within purchasing and warehouse to maximize operational efficiencies and competitive advantage.
Lead Island Gold District's procurement and warehousing personnel and ensure effective communication with Corporate Procurement.
Represent department in meetings on-site, work with other department Heads on strategic development, and work with senior management meeting objectives of this group.
Formulate the annual operating and capital budgets for the department consistent with Alamos' established financial guidelines and business planning process
Manage warehousing and associated assets.
Procurement:
Support dissemination and implementation of Alamos' Procurement Policy at Island Gold District, including measuring and improving compliance to the Procurement Policy.
Support corporate/regional procurement initiatives through sharing site requirements, clarifying needs, organizing supplier visits (as and when necessary), participating in the supplier proposal evaluation process, obtaining site sign-off/approvals, and supporting supplier implementation (when required).
Ensure that products, equipment, and services are purchased on time, of best value, and within budget (where applicable).
Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to purchasing, inventory and warehouse functions.
Approve purchase orders for supplies, equipment and services within authorized signature limits.
Prepares reports and complete documentation supporting negotiation and final purchasing decisions, including maintenance of inventory.
Oversee the negotiation of standard terms and conditions, as required.
Inventory Management
Support development, implementation and maintenance of Inventory focused Policies, Procedures, and Dashboard/KPIs to monitor site inventory performance.
Support implementation of parts storage strategies ensuring alignment with industry best practices, optimizing turnover/aging while minimizing obsolescence and loss.
Support corporate/regional inventory optimization programs including but not limited to: rationalization, standardization, substitution, and divestment of inventory.
Oversees activities of the warehouse, including issues related to material logistics and expediting, storage and inventory contract maintenance and or property utilization in accordance with mining operations, corporate and site policies, procedures, and regulations.
People Management:
Provide directions to the procurement and warehousing team, on a day-to-day basis.
Identifies strategies and key performance goals and acts as an advisor to the direct reports; works to overcome challenges and barriers and minimize risk.
Sets performance targets and measures, monitors and manages overall performance of the function and direct reports.
Builds the capabilities of the team to enhance their ability to achieve the financial and operating strategy; hires appropriately, leverages the talent of the function and takes corrective action where necessary.
What You Bring to the Table:
University degree in resource management
8-10 years Supply Chain Management experience in a fast-moving mining environment preferred.
5 years supervisory experience in dynamic work environment.
SCMP or CPIM designation preferred.
Remote and mining experience would be ideal
Ability to demonstrate advanced negotiating skills and strong leadership
Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear succinct way
The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to cooperative team effort.
Good communication skills, both orally and written, with both internal and external contact.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs is requiring.
Experience with SAP S4 Hana is an asset
Bilingualism is considered an asset

Working Conditions:
The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7/7 or 4/3
