Parts Avatar is a Canadian e-commerce leader in automotive parts and accessories. We move thousands of SKUs through our 3PL partners across Canada and import a growing share of our catalog from Asia. We're building a nimble, data-driven supply chain and are looking for a highly organized and proactive individual to help us turn chaos into clean, efficient processes.
The Role
You will own the day-to-day coordination of our 3PL warehouse operations and manage our inbound logistics and sourcing from China. You will be a key player in ensuring our inventory flows smoothly, from negotiating with suppliers in
Mandarin and/or Cantonese
to tracking shipments and maintaining strong relationships with our partners.
What You'll Do
3PL & Warehouse Operations
Serve as the daily point of contact for our 3PL partners, upholding service level agreements for receiving, storage, and order fulfillment.
Ensure accurate documentation for all inbound shipments (ASNs, labeling, pallet specs) and resolve any discrepancies.
Monitor key performance indicators (receiving time, pick accuracy, order cycle time) and reconcile 3PL invoices.
Inbound Logistics & Customs
Plan and book ocean, air, and express shipments (FOB/CIF/DDP) and coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
Prepare and verify all necessary shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and HS codes.
Track ETAs, prevent demurrage/detention charges, and manage claims for any damaged or missing inventory.
Support Canadian customs compliance, including preparing broker instructions and ensuring duty and tax accuracy.
Sourcing & Supplier Management (China)
Identify, vet, and build relationships with suppliers, handling all communication in both English and
Mandarin and/or Cantonese
.
Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and payment terms.
Coordinate quality checks, pre-shipment inspections, and packaging standards.
Inventory & Data
Maintain SKU master data, set reorder points, and assist with demand planning.
Analyze sell-through and lead-time variability to recommend inventory targets and safety stock levels.
Support landed-cost calculations and collaborate with the Catalog team on product attributes.
What You'll Bring
2-4+ years
of experience in supply chain, logistics, or sourcing, preferably within an e-commerce or distribution environment.
Professional proficiency in
Mandarin and/or Cantonese
(spoken and written) and strong English communication skills.
Hands-on experience with 3PL operations and familiarity with WMS/ERP systems and spreadsheets (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables).
Solid understanding of Incoterms, HS classification, import documentation, and various freight modes.
Strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to follow-through.
Nice to Have
Experience with automotive parts and familiarity with ACES/PIES data standards.
Knowledge of Canadian customs processes (e.g., CARM/RPP).
Familiarity with tools like Slack, Gmail, Google Sheets/Excel. Bonus points for experience with SQL/BI, NetSuite, Cin7, ShipStation, or CartRover.
