Job Summary
The Supervisor of Transit Training leads and supports the Signing Authorities of the training team to ensure the consistent, high-quality delivery of training that aligns with organizational standards and operational needs. Acting as a subject matter expert of the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Driver Certification Program (DCP), the Supervisor of Transit Training provides trusted guidance to internal leadership and external stakeholders. This role is also responsible for delivering targeted remedial training to high-risk Transit Operators, supporting their professional development while proactively identifying and addressing issues with potential operational impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervison and Support

• Offer subject matter expertise and supervision to the Signing Authority team members and Training Officers involved in training delivery.
• Assist in clarifying DCP objectives and resolving operational issues to promote efficient and effective training processes.
• Conduct on-road and in classroom assessments of Training Officers to ensure consistency and compliance of DCP requirements.
• The Supervisor will be responsible for training the Training Officers on internal SOPs and workflow processes, including onboarding of new team members.

Perform Training Officer Functions

• Provide remedial training to high-risk Transit Operators following serious or fatal collisions, and Operators who pose a risk to our brand reputation through numerous and severe customer complaints and respectful workplace incidents.
• Serve as a member of the Collision Review Committee through initial and appeal meetings, making a determination on preventability of Transit Operator collisions.

Perform Signing Authority (SA) Functions

• Hold active SA status for a minimum of 5 years.
• Perform SA functions by reviewing, validating, and endorsing official training-related documents in accordance with Ministry regulations.
• The Supervisor position actively participate in developing training curriculum and perform as a first level reviewer of the curriculum and work as an advisory to support developing any training curriculum for operators.
• Ensure all SA responsibilities under the DCP are met and maintained to continue to hold active status in good standing, including continued re-certifications and annual criminal record searches.

Liaise with Internal and External Stakeholders

• Act as subject matter expert and represent the training team in legal proceedings related to transit litigations.
• Collaborate with relevant Ministry units, transit agencies, and regulatory bodies to ensure training content and delivery meet current operational needs and regulatory expectations.
• Facilitate information exchange and coordination to support aligned transit training objectives.

Skills and Qualifications

• Certification in adult education and/or training and development.
• Certification as an MTO Signing Authority (SA) under Ontario's Driver Certification Program (DCP) for a minimum of 5 years.
• Valid minimum CZ licence holder with 0 demerit points and no infractions. A valid driver's abstract will be required.
• Strong understanding of Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR), and National Safety Code (NSC) standards.
• Knowledge of MTO audit processes, DCP reporting requirements, and accurate recordkeeping as required by SA guidelines.
• Familiarity with digital Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training records management.
• Expertise in driver assessment, training design, and delivery for various license classes.
• Ability to conduct road tests, vehicle inspections, and classroom sessions.
• Clear verbal and written communication for training, documentation, and stakeholder interaction.
• Ability to deliver complex technical content in an accessible manner.
• Skilled in identifying performance gaps and creating remedial training plans, and providing constructive feedback to adult learners.
• Strong mentoring capabilities and ability to lead and motivate training officers and students.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
