The plant is comprised of over a dozen Operating, Maintenance and Technical departments working together to process Nickel Concentrate to supply the Vale Refineries.The Opportunity:We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Services (Power Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 3rd Class) to join our Smelter Oxygen Plant and Utilities in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.As a Supervisor, Services you will be accountable for continuously improving the work team (crew) performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures. The successful candidate will be accountable for supervising within the Smelter Department.Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Monday-Friday with the possibility of overtime on weekends or evenings or shift work.
  • Follow Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Work Collectively with peers and cross-functionally with colleagues in engineering, maintenance, and services to achieve the objectives of the plant.
  • Support the Plant Manager in the development and management of the cost and capital expenditure budget.
  • Execute the implementation of new management systems.
  • Seek out opportunities for continuous improvements and lead or participate in teams to implement them.
  • Utilize data collection systems to identify and implement change to reduce process variability.
  • Ensure there is adherence to the Power Engineers Act.
  • Provide Divisional month-end billing statements and facilitate plant access to Utilities billing data.
About YouEducation:
  • Minimum Third-Class Power Engineering certificate is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of Power Engineering experience.
  • Supervisory experience - familiar with coordinating Power Engineers and maintenance resources to ensure uninterrupted services to internal customers.
  • Project experience \xe2\x80\x93 plan, organize, budget, and prioritize construction projects for the area of responsibility.
  • Experience in operating Oxygen facilities (PRAXAIR Air Separation Unit, reciprocating compressors & boilers).
  • Experience working in a control room monitoring complex processes and coordinating critical activities.
Skills:
  • Ability to prioritize assets maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
