Our Team:

Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

The Opportunity

The incumbent would report to the Construction Area Lead for Underground Construction who will lead a construction coordination team to successfully oversee the execution of mine construction contracts under the North Atlantic Project Group Sudbury Mines Projects & Studies area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute approved Capital projects including related commissioning/ops readiness (Service Giving)
  • Provide underground development coordination for Capital projects (Coordinate)
  • Participate in incident investigations and ensure any findings/actions are successfully implemented and adhered to in the field (Coordinate)
  • Coordinate development contractor day to day activities with mine operations team to ensure alignment of all stakeholders (Coordinate)
  • Provide operational support and direct supervision of contractors (Service Giving)
  • Assist in development of scopes of work for plant specific non-continuous contract requirements (Service Giving)
  • Support the management of requisitions and performance of Technical and Commercial Evaluations (Coordinate)
  • Support the service demand planning of project contracts (Coordinate)
  • Support the contracts management, project controls and engineering functional teams as required in the management and tracking of construction/development contracts (Service Giving)
  • Coordinate material logistics required for project execution (Coordinate)
  • Participate in Kick Off Meetings, Pre-Mobilization Risk Assessments, Process Hazard Reviews and Job Hazard Analysis reviews with contractors and other project team areas (Service Giving)
  • Coordinate contractor Lenel and gate access approvals for all contracts (Coordinate)
  • Monitor contractor work approvals, site access, quality, efficiency, qualifications and safety (Monitor)
  • Review, validate and approve Contractor Time Sheets
  • Review, validate and sign off on Contractor Invoices that services have been received
  • Understand the scope of the contract to ensure the proper contract/contractor is utilized before scheduling a contractor in to perform work (Coordinate)
  • Perform contractor audits for quality, qualifications, compliance, invoice auditing (Audit)
  • Understand and access project budget and contract spend information (Monitoring)
  • Understand business value regarding contracts and contract management for the Project (Service Giving)
About You

Education:
  • Education in an engineering, technical, trades or mine development/production discipline is required.
  • PMP Designation is an asset.
Experience:
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar subject area
  • Minimum 2-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in project management or mining development related role
  • Preferred knowledge and understanding of VPS Technical, project management principles and strategies and strong project management skills.
Preferred Certification:
  • Technologist or Engineer (Peng)
  • Ticketed tradesperson (for construction coordination) or miner (for development coordination)
