Our Team:
The Clarabelle Mill Technical Services Team is integral to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer. A well-rounded multi-disciplinary team who are responsible for the optimization of metal extraction from our ore. We aim to plan production, monitor, improve, and report the performance of the Mill operation through technical excellence throughout the value chain including, ore blending and handling, crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, and metal.

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Production to join our Clarabelle Mill in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

As a Supervisor, Production you will be accountable for managing the social, commercial, and technical processes of a front-line team within established limits, to meet production goals and objectives of the work area in safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will be accountable for getting a process under control and maintaining the process within established limits. Also, identify special cause variances and take action to address issues or take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Ensuring that direct reports and areas of accountability meet all requirements with regard to legislated regulations, company policies and practices, and collective agreements.

You will continuously improve the work team performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives. Improve the effectiveness of the front-line team while meeting the business objectives. This includes ensuring the completion of assigned work with consistency and accuracy by following Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work on a rotation schedule (5/4 schedule days and nights).
  • Supervise the production work components of the FLP&S (Front Line Planning & Scheduling) business process.
  • Work within budget, guidelines, and standards to execute Safety and Production Plans as established by the Superintendent or designate.
  • Work collectively with peers and cross-functionally with colleagues in engineering, maintenance, and services to achieve the objectives of the plant.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or designate to achieve the desired results within an agreed-upon timeline and end state.
  • Hold the team accountable for area safety behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to recognize, prioritize, and understand the controls required to mitigate risks in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health and Safety performance and ensure that all the team members in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety over which they have control including adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
About You

Education:
  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A valid industrial trade certificate for the province of Ontario is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Mineral processing environmental skills including some time leading a crew is preferred.
Skills:
  • Computer skills including SAP, Excel, and Word.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrated open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
