Kids Barrie Childcare + Preschool is recruiting for our high quality, unique value proposition preschool, dedicated to providing high quality early learning, the best nutrition and highest quality environment for kids, educators and parents.

With a total licensed capacity of 156 children divided into eight classrooms: 60 toddlers and 96 preschoolers.

JOB TYPE:

COMPENSATION:

$45,000 to $70,000 annual salary

QUALIFICATIONS:



Three years of experience in an Ontario Childcare Centre as a Supervisor

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Formal training in Early Childhood Development

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

B.A or diploma in Early Childhood Education

Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators

Registered Early Childhood Educator registered with the Province of Ontario

Holder of a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C Certificate (Infant/Child)

Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 3 months)

Child Welfare Intervention check

Health Assessment and Immunization as required by the Ministry of Education

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certification

Food Handlers Certification

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational skills and initiative

Creative problem-solving skills

Ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with children, staff, and parent

Strong computer skills (Microsoft QuickBooks and Excel)

Access to a motor vehicle

HOURS:



The Supervisor must be available to work on rotating hour shifts during the Centre's hours of operation (7:30 am - 5:30 pm). Due to the supervisory nature of this position, the successful candidate may occasionally be required to work a longer shift or after hours.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE:

Directly manages all RECEs and ECAs

Managers the Centre's Chef and Sous Chef

RESPONSIBILITIES:



The Supervisor must above all believe in the vision, mission and values of Kids Inc. (to be briefed during interview process) Responsible for the centre's operations, and management. Responsible for ensuring the centre's evaluation is exceeding all legislative and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program. Responsible for the enrollment and maintenance of the waiting-list. Understands and complies with Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 (CCEYA) and the centre's policies and procedures and supports the vision, mission and values of Kids Inc. Hiring qualified staff Managing a team of 24 program staff Ongoing communication with families and the community Working successfully with provincial, regional and municipal licensing partners Ensure all service programs provide the highest quality of care and service to all participants and their families Ensuring that ministry compliance is met and surpassed Maintaining enrollment Participation in special events, professional development within the centre, community Excellent parent communication skills and an excellent ability to solve concerns/problems Excellent work ethic-willingness to go above and beyond to meet needs of both staff, children and families Experience in doing performance reviews with staff and mentoring staff in their growth and development Excellent team building skills and open to learning and collaborating with staff Has ambition to grow within an organization Is comfortable and knowledgeable with technology, Microsoft Office, Social and Digital Media Excellent time management skills and priority-setting Design and implement age specific programming for all age groups. Communicate with the Chief Kids Officer regarding any areas of improvements, innovation and concern regarding health, well-being and safety of our Kids. Instill confidence, encourage creativity within staff Ensure staff maintain current certification in First Aid (Renewed every 2 years) Ensure staff maintain current certification in Food Handler/Server - Public Health Ensure staff read & agree to all policies set out by the Ministry of Education Maintain daily room/playground inspection reports and record results Maintain a daily health inspection of all children Manage daily/weekly staff schedules Manage special events, holiday celebrations, and parent engagement Responsible for maintaining supervision for children Along with the Chief Kids Officer is responsible for onboarding and training any new staff on the vision, values, rules, regulations and policies for the Centre. Responsible for the curriculum and program delivery. Must review/complete/sign any report regarding physical or emotional harm. Must inform parents of any incidents involving their children. Maintain inventory of stock for the Centre's needs Ensure staff read & agree to all policies set out by the Ministry of Education Ensure staff assist the children with lunch and snack routines

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:



Administration:



Assist the Finance Director with the development and monitoring of the Child Care Centre's budget.

Prepare purchase order forms for the approval by the Chief Kids Officer

Ensure that adequate records are maintained and compiled for the Chief Kids Officer and the Board of Directors.

Always maintain Ministry's requirements and provincial standards.

Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for children as per the vision of Kids Inc.

Foster and nurture a positive relationship with parents and always be accessible and available to them.

Encourage parental involvement in the Child Care Centre.

Ensure that records are kept on all children in the program (digital and hard copies).

Staff Development & Appreciation:



Manage teachers' resources effectively to ensure that they work as members of a team, have input into planning and have opportunities for improving their professional skills.

Provide coverage for absent teachers when required.

Conduct regular staff meetings.

Provide feedback and input to the Chief Kids Officer for annual appraisals on each teacher and all other Centre employees.

People Relations:



Promote a positive image of Kids Childcare to the public.

Create and maintain adequate liaison with the appropriate agencies, professional associations and other childcare programs in the city.

The Supervisor is responsible for liaison with Ministry, Region, families, teachers, sponsoring agencies, etc.

Be knowledgeable, informed, and current on childcare philosophy.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills to be evaluated through staff and client feedback on an ongoing and annual basis.

Demonstrated teamwork with internal and external contacts - being able to work collaboratively with others in a participative environment to be evaluated through peer feedback on an ongoing and annual basis.

Demonstrated organizational abilities to be evaluated by maintaining necessary documentation and providing reports to supervisor for agreed upon intervals as well as keeping hard copy and electronic files in an orderly fashion.

Demonstrated ability to be tactful - being respectful and polite when dealing with people; and being able to appropriately deal with people in difficult situations to be evaluated through client feedback on an ongoing and annual basis.
