Your Opportunity:

Make a significant impact on patient-focused health care as a Supervisor for Food, Linen and Environmental Services at Big Country Hospital in Oyen, AB, a vibrant, close-knit community in east-central Alberta near the Saskatchewan boundary and north of Medicine Hat. You will have the unique opportunity to lead a diverse team by providing direction, support and guidance to frontline workers in three support areas - Patient Food Services, Linen Services and Environmental Services. You will be integrated as part of a dynamic team in the South Zone supported by leadership and your peers.

Description:

Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor has direct responsibility for maintaining operations at the site level, aligning AHS, Nutrition, Food, Linen and Environmental Services (NFLES), and site priorities with the delivery of Food, Linen and Environmental Services (FLES). Responsibilities and accountabilities include: Operational leadership and human resource management for frontline FLES employees, to ensure service levels and priorities are achieved. Monitors and analyzes operating budgets to achieve financial targets. Promotes quality improvement and workplace health and safety. Ensures safe work practice and conditions. Effective communication and engagement. Key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to FLES. Ensures site compliance to guidelines, standards and regulatory directives. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food, Linen and Environmental Services Management. It is an independent leadership position with no on-site Manager present.

Required Qualifications:

Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition, Business and/or Food Service Management or a related field. Must be reliable and capable of working under limited supervision and able to apply logical thinking and problem solving to a range of situations. Competence in a computerized work environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within a fast-paced, time sensitive work environment. A proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. A strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities without close supervision. Be client focused and committed to providing quality services.
Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years\' experience in a Food, Linen and/or Environmental Services management role, ideally in a rural site with different levels of complexity and diversity. Healthcare experience is an asset. Supervisory experience in a unionized working environment. Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control, Food Safety Guidelines and practice. Food Safety Certification and WHMIS training. A member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers, or in the process of obtaining membership.
