This is skilled marketing and communications supervisory work involved in coordinating communication and promotional activities used to inform the community and municipality of the programs, services and activities of the City. An incumbent coordinates the resources, production and dissemination of various marketing and communications materials, media assets, publications, campaigns, messaging and information updates for print, online and multimedia, ensuring all are accurate and delivered on brand, on time and on budget; assists in development of appropriate workback schedules and consults with managers to assign and allocate tasks and projects; participates in the recruitment process and provides orientation and training to employees; provides leadership and guidance to employees including coaching and performance management; prepares and provides documentation and/or confidential reports related to employee issues. Develops and evaluates annual work plans and budget for approval by supervisor. Responsible for making decisions regarding the execution of work plans, production scheduling and budget to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Supervises and assigns the work of reporting staff. Assigns projects, approves work plans and reviews work to ensure it is executed to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, records, correspondence, and other resource material related to the work; prepares and monitors the operating budget. Performs related work as required. Qualifications include a diploma or university graduation in Marketing or Communications plus sound related experience preferably in a municipal government environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of marketing, communications practices, principles and techniques as they relate to work performed. Ability to exercise considerable independence in judgement and action in most aspects of the work, referring policy issues, new initiatives, media issues and unusual problems to a superior who evaluates performance in terms of effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes. Skill is required in the use of office computer applications and software relevant to the work including Adobe Acrobat, MS Office and Teams, website content management systems, and email marketing services.
