Position Summary
The Supervisor - Licensed Group Child Care & Preschool (LGCC&P) ensures the safe and effective delivery of licensed child care programming within their portfolio, including 30 months to School Age, Preschool (3-5 years) and School Age (5-12 years) programs. This role is responsible for overseeing planning, implementation, risk management, and frontline staff and volunteer supervision. Rooted in a trauma-informed approach, this role prioritizes participant safety, empowerment, and skill development while supporting child/youth health promotion, relationship-building, and behavior management. As an integrated supervisor and in-program leader position, the Supervisor implements approved plans, ensures compliance with guidelines and provides input to the Program Manager/Director for strategic decision making. The Supervisor demonstrates intentional practice with a results-driven focus, leading by example and embodying the Agency's Core Values and Code of Ethics in all decision-making and professional behavior

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Program Manager/Director to obtain and maintain the appropriate Community Care Facility Licenses, ensuring compliance with Child Care Licensing regulations
Monitors program operations to uphold licensing standards, serving as a liaison with Licensing Officers, maintaining a professional working relationship, and escalating concerns to the Program Manager/Director as needed
Supports the day-to-day operations of licensed child care spaces, ensuring alignment with early learning practices and licensing standards under the guidance of the Program Manager/Director
Supports the implementation of the Early Learning Framework, ensuring high-quality, developmentally appropriate programming for children
Supports the Program Manager/Director in establishing new licensed spaces by contributing to physical setup and activity planning that align with established program goals
Collaborates with the Program Manager/Director to ensure programs align with organizational goals, licensing requirements, contracts and community needs
Collaborates with families to develop and review individualized Care/Service Plans that guide daily routines, activity choices and support needs within the established program framework; escalating modifications to the Program Manager/Director
Monitors program activity outcomes and shares observations with the Program Manager/Director to support ongoing program quality
Assists in data collection and analysis; monitors relevant data, feedback and success stories, using the information to inform required program reporting and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with Program Manager/Director
Delivers services guided by evidence-based approaches, including strengths-based practices, Trauma-Informed Care, Positive Behaviour Support and experiential learning
Works in-ratio as an active team member when required to meet licensing/program ratio standards
Transports children/youth to and from programs and community based out-trips in Agency vehicles, as required
Supports alignment of daily activities with contract goals, Model for Success and Logic Models in collaboration with the Program Manager/Director
Applies policy and procedure appropriately in practice with staff and volunteers
Implements monthly activity plans developed in collaboration with Program Manager/Director
Schedules staff in collaboration with Program Manager/Director ensuring ratio coverage
Follows after-hours communication procedures
Assists with new hire onboarding by delivering program-specific orientation, facilitating ongoing training and mentoring new staff under the direction of the Program Manager/Director
Provides day-to-day supervision and coaching to frontline staff, supporting consistent, high-quality care and program delivery aligned with licensing standards and organizational policies
Supports staff development through mentorship, training, and professional development initiatives, escalating identified competency gaps to the Program Manager/Director
Facilitates team meetings to align staff with program objectives and ensure effective communication
Assists in the review and updating of program handbooks annually to reflect current best practices and organizational, licensing and accreditation standards
Conducts probationary and scheduled performance reviews for frontline staff, in collaboration with and with feedback from the Program Manager/Director
Develops, plans and implements pre-approved special events within program
Informs Manager/Director of staff attendance for their approval of program staff timesheets
Facilitates direct report staff meetings, preparing agendas, documenting minutes and ensuring follow-up on action items; actively participates in all staff meetings to align with organizational priorities
Assists with administrative duties, including maintaining participant records and supporting program evaluations to ensure program efficiency
Utilizes program databases for communication, parent engagement, membership, and attendance, ensuring data accuracy for analysis, reporting, evaluation, and program development
Ensures program activities meet CARF, accreditation and program standards, updating the Program Manager/Director on compliance status
Maintains environments which are free from threat of harm through active supervision, enforcing safety protocols and fostering a supportive atmosphere
Performs other duties as assigned or requested, which may include tasks not listed in this position description but are within the scope of the position, program and/or department

Minimum Qualifications
Relevant post-secondary diploma in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, Education, Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience
Early Childhood Education Certificate
1-year experience supervising and supporting a staff team in a Community Care Licensing Environment
Demonstrated experience applying Positive Behaviour Support strategies
Demonstrated experience implementing Care Plans/Service Delivery Plans
Demonstrated ability to incorporate stages of child development in program/service delivery
Demonstrated experience applying preventative approaches to behavioural management
Demonstrated experience with trauma informed practice
Class 4 driver's license; clean driver's abstract
Valid Standard First Aid/CPR C certification
